The Doctrine of Original Sin Is Not True
Asherah, detail from an ivory box from Mīna al-Bayḍā near Ras Shamra (Ugarit), Syria, c. 1300 bce; in the Louvre, Paris.
The Canaanite wisdom and mother goddess Asherah was known as the lady of the serpent (dat batni). The serpent motif is common in many cultures, and it is the serpent goddess Asherah who tempts Eve in the garden of Eden to participate in her cultic sex rites.
